Understand Booking Cancellations and Refunds
Learn how cancellation policies work and what to check before canceling a Vanly booking.
Anna @ Vanly ·

Cancellation and refund eligibility can vary based on your booking status, the host’s cancellation policy, how soon the stay begins, and whether you or the host cancels. Always review the refund estimate displayed for your specific booking before confirming a cancellation.
Before you begin
A signed-in Vanly account
A pending or confirmed booking in Trips
Access to the payment method used for the booking
Step 1: Understand cancellation timing, policies, and refunds
Check the policy before booking
Every listing has a cancellation policy. Review it on the listing page before submitting your booking.
Flexible: Cancel at least 24 hours before the scheduled stay to receive a full refund of the eligible booking amount, excluding the service fee.
Moderate: Cancel at least three days before the scheduled stay to receive 50% of the eligible booking amount, excluding the service fee.
Strict: The booking is final and does not provide a guest cancellation refund.
Pending booking requests
A request-to-book reservation remains pending until the host accepts or denies it. Your card is not charged unless the host accepts the request.
You can cancel a pending request from Trips. Because the booking has not been accepted and charged, a confirmed-booking refund estimate will not be shown.
Confirmed bookings
Open Trips, select the booking, and choose Cancel Booking from the available actions. Vanly will show the booking’s cancellation policy and any refund calculated for that booking.
Review the displayed amount carefully before confirming. A refund is not guaranteed simply because the stay has not started.
How refunds are calculated
For guest cancellations, the amount depends on the listing’s policy and how far in advance you cancel. The Vanly service fee is excluded when a Flexible or Moderate policy refund is calculated.
If the host cancels a confirmed booking before arrival, the guest receives the full amount charged for the booking.
Once the booking has started, the transaction is considered final and the booking can no longer be canceled through the normal cancellation flow.
After a cancellation
Return to the booking’s Price and payment section to review refunded and non-refundable amounts. The time required for an approved refund to appear can vary depending on your payment provider.
Get help when something looks incorrect
If the displayed information does not match what you expected, do not submit another payment or create another booking. Contact Vanly Support and include the booking reference and a description of the problem.
Tip: Review the refund estimate displayed for your specific booking before confirming the cancellation.
Important: Do not assume every cancellation receives a full refund. The policy, cancellation timing, and service fee all affect the final amount.
You’re ready
You now know where to find a booking’s cancellation policy, how the different policies work, and how to review your refund before canceling. When in doubt, check the amount displayed on your booking or contact Vanly Support before confirming.
